Born into a family of tailors, Belgium born Dries van Noten grew up watching the glamorous fashion shows of Milan, Düsseldorf and Paris with his father. Acknowledging his love for fashion design, van Noten studied at Antwerp’s Royal Academy, after which he achieved great success selling his own designs to prestigious customers such as Barneys New York and Whistles London. Opening his first boutique in Antwerp in 1986, Dries van Noten debuted his first collection during Paris fashion week in 1991, gaining immediate respect and accreditation and successfully stamping the van Noten mark onto the fashion circuit.

Influenced by the 1970’s and in particular David Bowie, the Dries van Noten look is characterized by print, colour, fabric choice and layering.
